Yamaha U3H upright acoustic piano made in 1981; Fully Refurbished from Hanna Pianos in Wimbledon.
During restoration, we felt it required new bass strings, so that’s what we gave it! The resonance, from the extra-long soundboard a U3 owns, is truly amazing. A deep and dark bass fills the air in front of you with the unmistakable sound a Yamaha U3 can give a player.
Remember, the length of the soundboard of a Yamaha U3 is similar to that of a baby grand’s soundboard. As such, the expanse and acoustic chamber give the 131 cm U3 extended power and projection, with the peerless tonal and expressive control of the legendary Yamaha action.
With its warm, solid sound and consistently stable playability, the U series draws you in and lets you immerse yourself in the piano from the first time you play it. This model epitomizes the Yamaha upright piano and embodies a standard in pianos that has matured over decades—inheriting the fundamental specifications and characteristics and remaining held in high regard by professional pianists.

The U series’s exceptional high-quality sound and durability have been achieved through outstanding design, thorough quality control of the wood materials, and unique application of advanced technology to craft parts resistant to warping and twisting. The result is extraordinarily smooth and sensitive playability, with even the most delicate nuances preserved and given full expression.
A special Soft-Close damping mechanism is built into the fallboard, closing the lid slowly and preventing possible injury.
The U3 is the tallest and most distinguished model of the U series at 131 cm in height, providing even greater expressiveness and playability.
