The Ritmüller Salon R9 Grand Piano benefits from extra string length and a larger sound board area which adds greater depth of tone and performance.
Designed by master piano designer, Lothar Thomma of Basel, Switzerland, the Ritmüller Salon R9 Grand Piano is a classic grand piano bringing the very latest in music design and technology to a piano that fits easily in residential interiors. Re-engineered with quality components, the range of upgrades includes plate modification to accommodate new scales, new calculated string lengths, slow-fall fallboard and much more.
The Salon R9 has many aspects of design that mark it out as an instrument of quality and craftsmanship, particularly striking given its relative price. The quality of the instrument and its components is particularity evident in Ritmüller’s choice of variations of wood by which to construct the piano. The beams are over-sized domestic walnut, vertically laminated for stiffness and strength. The bridges are solid maple capped, vertically laminated bridge, promoting an efficient transfer of energy, resulting in purer sound. The key bed is Butcher-block spruce and the key material is Premium Siberian Spruce, select straight grain with ebony sharps. The pinblock has 19 maple cross plied laminations, cold pressed and age cured to provide tuning pin stability. Finally the soundboard is all spruce, core assembled with vertical grain spruce, crafted to provide maximum tonal response and structural integrity.
The Ritmüller Salon R9 Grand Piano’s hammers are sourced from Abel in Germany, generally considered the finest quality hammers in the world. They have an excellent balance of elasticity and firmness, formed to produce a rich assertive tone. A vintage style cast iron frame and a metal rail on the front demonstrates that care and precision has gone into the construction of the piano. The metal rail prevents the wood and keyboard rail from warping, guarding the lifetime of the piano against the dangers of modern day pressures of heat and damp in houses. In addition, the Salon R9 has the finest quality nickel plated steel tuning pins cut-thread to maintain maximum torque as well as a soft fall keyboard cover.

About Ritmüller Salon Grand Pianos:
Piano production is entirely made by Pearl River, the world’s largest, state-of-the-art factory.
Consequently the manufacturing process, from the selection of woods, to the crafting of actions, soundboards, wet sand-cast plates, and every other integral part of the piano is controlled by Pearl River ensuring a consistently high quality piano true to the exact scale-design.
Pearl River soundboards use 100% close grained high altitude northern spruce. A solid spruce core ensures maximum transference of energy across the soundboard bringing a lively tone and responsiveness normally only associated with top class piano manufacturers.
Each face of the solid spruce soundboard has a offset thin epidermal layer of spruce. This specially engineered feature enhances the energy transfer across the soundboard and strengthens the solid core to withstand worldwide climatic conditions without the inherent fear of cracking associated with older pianos unable to withstand extreme climates or centrally heated homes lacking humidity control. Unlike many other entry level new pianos, Pearl River soundboards resist cracking while maintaining a beautiful tone throughout the life of the piano.
German piano wire for the finest sound wave generation give a clear tone and tuning stability. Bass strings are copper wound by Pearl River using the latest machines to precise tolerances to ensure clear and resonant bass registers.
