Antique C. Bechstein Grand Piano

This antique ¹ C. Bechstein ² concert grand piano is the very height of what a quality, exquisite and beautiful piano should be. Made in Berlin, Pre-1900, it has undergone a full rebuild by our in house Piano restoration team, based out of our Wimbledon Piano workshop. With some unique casework features, and beautiful traditional Bechstein tone it's a work of art as much as it's a work of craftsmanship.

Restoration Work:

Our team completely rebuilt this antique C. Bechstein concert grand piano, so it sounds how it did when it was new. We re-bronzed the original full iron frame, and we installed new iron frame pins, bridges, and bridge pins. We have fitted a brand new, German made soundboard in to the piano in addition to new tuning pins. All components have been sourced from Germany, and are of the very finest quality: the C. Bechstein Grand Piano's new strings are from Roslau ³, considered the best in the world. New Dampers, damper heads and felts are also new.

Two further new components ensure this piano truly can deliver flawless performance and tone:

First, we fitted a new keyboard and new action. Furthermore, we stripped down and re-polished the substantial and strong case with a high gloss black finish. The casework in particular has some unique characteristics and details such a a lovely fretwork music desk, octagonal shaped legs, and ornately carved details on the piano cheeks. This piano also has an excellently designed soundboard and iron frame, which gives it such fantastic tone.

We acquired the piano from a school in the UK. The complete rebuild was undergone over a period of ten months. We are extremely proud of the high standard put into this piano to restore it to its glory. It is a special, special and superb sounding piano and truly the instrument of a lifetime.
