09 Mar Marryat Players Chamber Music Festival 2020
In the 20th Anniversary year of the Marryat Players it is excellent news that the annual Marryat Players Chamber Music Festival is returning this Summer and will take place at 3 Marryat Road, Wimbledon from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th June 2020 under the patronage of distinguished cellist Steven Isserlis.
The festival will mark Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year with his much loved Septet for winds and strings and ending with his mighty Archduke piano trio. Also included for the first time this year is the first late night jazz concert on Saturday evening with the brilliant Julian Bliss Septet who will be celebrating the iconic melodies of George Gershwin.
Music by Schönberg, Mozart, Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Kabalevsky, Schubert, Fauré, Ravel and more will be performed by the Marryat Players’ award-winning musicians including clarinettist Sasha Rattle, violinists Pablo Hernán, Emily Nebel and Bartosz Woroch, violists Jenny Lewisohn and Hannah Strijbos, cellists Bartholomew LaFollette and Peteris Sokolovskis, pianist Zeynep Özsuca, students from the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Festival Orchestra conducted by Thomas Carroll.
The Marryat Players are also honoured to welcome back Dr Katy Hamilton who will give an afternoon lecture and we look forward to our Education Programme for three young string ensembles culminating in a public masterclass on Sunday morning.
All in all, the Chamber Music Festival will bring four memorable days of chamber music, interspersed with lovely summer drinks in the garden.
